ZAC GRIFFITH TEXAS AOUDAD HUNT: “3 FOR 3”
My name is Zac Griffith and this is a film from a Texas aoudad hunt. I’ve never hunted anything I didn’t love. I am obsessed with non-North American, introduced species. I definitely love some more than others. Aoudad, wild and free-ranging have been introduced into NM and TX from their North Sahara homeland.
They are physical behemoths. Shoulders taper down to their hams illustrate their immense upper-body strength. They have enormous hooves and blonde chaps that hang from their neck and brisket. Rams grow to an unbelievable 300lbs plus. The Aoudad or Barbary Sheep are a herd animal with incredible eyesight. Naturally I am drawn to their appearance but also the unbelievable terrain the navigate. Like a Persian Ibex, gravity seems non-existent these mountain sheep.
Follow me and two great hunters/friends as we attempt to beat them on their turf. The rugged Chinati Mountains of far west Texas.
